Set deep within Dubai's Tilal al Ghaf community, this mega mansion, the largest in its urban setting, came with extensive and highly specific demands. The sheer size of the program required a proper rethinking of space organization and scale to ensure this vast private residence could still feel like a home.
The resolution: a 'houses within a house' concept. Functions were divided into smaller program clusters arranged as volumes branching from a central horizontal spine, unified under one sinuous roof. By establishing a deliberate hierarchy of space, each volume offers a unique atmosphere, playing with level, privacy, view, materials, and scale to create varying degrees of intimacy. A palette of rough stone and wood ensures cohesion across the mansion's architectural identity.
Main circulation and services are housed within an undulating datum that introduces water features and green pockets, enlivening the axial arrangement and bringing scale down to a human level. Positioned between volumes, these elements form relaxing outdoor spaces oriented towards the lagoon, capturing views of both gardens and sea.
