In the hills above the Mediterranean city of Sidon, Bramieh Village is a residential development located within an old orchard, overlooking both the city and the sea. Inspired by the urban morphology of old Sidon, the project’s volumes are woven together to create interconnected, green gardens linked by pedestrian pathways. Tree-lined inner roads lead to each house, forming a scenic loop trail for outdoor activities.
The residential buildings are composed of two to three floors, stepping up to create landscaped terraces. Traditional red-tile roofs are replaced with roof gardens, reclaiming the green spaces lost to construction. Private gardens integrate with living spaces through courtyards and patios, contributing to a cooler microclimate and a biophilic living approach. Within the common areas, agricultural terracing recaptures the land's original spirit, offering fresh local produce to the residents.
Each residential unit is carefully oriented to maximize views and minimize intrusions on privacy, with perforated screens designed to facilitate natural cross-ventilation while bathing interiors in natural light. The habitable roofs, protected by expansive pergolas with mounted solar collectors, feature pools amidst soft and mineral landscaping. Clad in natural stone, Bramieh Village proposes a contemporary evolution of the traditional Lebanese mountain village.
